Whether you’re looking to express yourself or for a way to relax, photography can be wonderful. Photography allows you to capture special moments and the beauty of nature. As the old saying goes, what can be said with a thousand words can be said with a single photograph.
If you’re trying to take the best possible picture, get close to the subject you’re photographing. This will help you frame your subject, and block out disruptive backgrounds. If you are shooting a person, getting closer also allows to capture their facial expressions with greater clarity. Tiny details can be missed if the subject is far away.
Experiment with new things, and do not be afraid to take original pictures. A great picture should show the world a unique point of view, and exhibit unmistakable personal style. Avoid cliched poses or shots that you have seen millions of times. Try out a creative style with your skills, and try unique angles.
Framing is very important when composing your shot. Eliminate any objects that diminish the impact of your subject by either removing them or zooming in on your main focal point. When you do this, you avoid having a cluttered photo with unintended focal points.
Experiment with you camera’s shutter speed settings. Educate yourself about shutter speeds. On your SLR camera there are several settings; S, A, M and P. Program mode is indicated by the “P”. This is the fully automatic setting of your camera, and it sets the aperture and shutter speed automatically for you. If you don’t know what you’re shooting, use your “P” setting.
Not everyone can take a picture, but everyone is able to enjoy one. If you explore different aspects of photography, you can develop the ability to capture the hidden moments that others may have overlooked. Photography is an interesting and rewarding activity. Sharing the photos you take is also a wonderful way to blow off some steam and take a break from life.
